Two products, one source

Both are built from the same thing: the permits cities publish every day. What differs is whether you care about one property or every new job in your market.

Address permit report

$29 one time

For buyers, owners, agents and anyone checking a property before they commit.

  • Every permit ever filed at the address, not just recent ones
  • What the work actually was, described as the city recorded it
  • Declared value and status, and whether it was ever finaled — everywhere but Chicago, Seattle, Austin, New York City, Louisville and Marin County, which publish no completion date at all
  • The licensed contractor and owner named on each permit, everywhere but Los Angeles, Detroit and Montgomery County — which publish neither, and each says so before you pay
  • Opens the moment you pay, and arrives by email with a permanent link
Look up an address

The preview is free — permit count, years active and declared value — so you can see there's something there before paying. If the city's records don't back up what the page showed, reply to your receipt and we'll refund you.

Straight answers

Where does the data come from?

Each jurisdiction's own public permit records — the same filings the city publishes. We pull them daily, score them, and put them in one place. Nothing is scraped from listing sites and nothing is estimated.

Which markets are covered?

19 right now: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Austin and 14 more. Coverage is listed in full on the homepage, and the feed page shows live counts per market.

When does my subscription start?

Your subscription starts when you pay through secure checkout. Full access costs $20/month, and you can cancel anytime.

How fresh is it?

As fresh as the city is. Most publish daily and the feed reflects that. Some batch their filings — Kenton County can go weeks between drops — so the morning email goes out when there is genuinely something new rather than repeating yesterday's list.

Can I buy one report without subscribing?

Yes, and most people do. The $29 report is a one-off purchase with no account and no recurring charge.

What if the report is empty?

You'll see the permit count in the free preview before you pay, so an address with no records never gets to checkout. If something still looks wrong, reply to your receipt.

Not sure which one you need?

If you're asking about one address — a house you're buying, insuring or selling — it's the $29 report. If you want to know about jobs starting near you, it's the feed.
